My Vision
Istarted a consultancy because… I enjoy helping nonprofit organizations develop into thriving enterprises that address community needs. Working with several clients at once is energizing: inevitably, what I learn from one client makes me a better consultant for another client.
01. Philosphy
Fundamental philosophy… we all have a part in making our communities strong. I tend to become laser-focused on optimizing board members’ networks and helping staff harness their passion in order to create lasting impact.
02. Building Blocks
A strong foundation is instrumental… Fundraising and external relations positions at a few decent institutions – Davidson College, UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University and Georgia Tech – created high standards and good habits. I rounded that out with some time at Children’s Defense Fund, American Red Cross and Communities In Schools of Georgia.
03. And one more thing
By the way…people are the same wherever you go. I’ve spent just as much time raising big money and working with boards in small towns as I have in big cities: regardless of income or geography, integrity matters and helping others is the decent thing to do. Everyone needs to feel needed, connected, and important – to someone.
Last Thoughts
I spend too much money on… food and plants. It’s possible that I used to accept payment for some jobs in barbecue, baked goods, and perennials.
